Weight and Height Restrictions

Riding is a physically demanding sport.

Veterinarians agree that horses can carry up to 20% of their total body weight. The average full sized horse weighs approximately 1000 pounds. We use an assortment of small to medium saddle horses, many of which are less than 900 pounds.

A heavier rider with shorter stature will not only find it more difficult to balance on the horse, but will also be inclined to be more seriously injured in the event of a fall.
